The Baths of Virgin Gorda
The Baths are an area of unique geologic formations located at the bottom of a hill on the southern end of Virgin Gorda. Graceful granite boulders and breathtaking grottoes lie in piles on the sand beach, showing evidence of the island's volcanic origins. The boulders form natural hidden rooms, impressive arches, exciting tunnels and grottoes that will lead you straight to Devil's Bay, where you'll find shallow clear water perfect for snorkeling. Granite boulders also form sheltered sea pools on the beach's edge. Climbing and crawling through the crevices and grottoes can be slippery but it is worth the view. The island of Virgin Gorda is also known as "The Fat Virgin" because of its profile on the horizon that resembles of a fat lady lying on her side.
