Kotor

Kotor is a coastal town in Montenegro, with a charming old town and a bustling harbor, located in a secluded part of the Gulf of Kotor. It’s filled with medieval architecture and historic monuments. The town walls are peered down upon by a series of ungainly peaks. If you want to experience all of the charm that Kotor has to offer it would be best to walk through the maze of streets in the old town. Places worth visiting are the old Rector’s Palace, St Tryphon’s Cathedral and a leaning clock tower. Also Maritime Museum has something interesting to offer, a repository of nautical maps, and model ships. Kotor is really the undisputed jewel in Montenegro’s crown.

Perast Boka Bay

Perast Boka Bay

Perast is an old town situated in Boka Bay, just few kilometers from Kotor, surrounded by breathtaking mountains. There are many small restaurants which offer great fish specialities. It has gorgeous architecture, but the biggest attraction is little island Our Lady of the Rocks (Gospa od Skrpjela). It is one of the two islets off the coast of Perast. Our Lady of the Rocks is an artificial island created by bastion of rocks. The largest building on the islet is the church, but there is also a museum worth visiting. According to the legend, the islet was made over the centuries by local seamen who kept an oath after finding the icon of Madonna and Child on the rock in the sea. The custom of throwing rocks into the sea is alive even nowadays.
